DIY: How To Peplum Skirt

Hey guys,

I feel like I'm really getting into this whole sewing thing, i think its possibly my new obsession. I'm changing my whole wardrobe one thing at a time ha ha.

Today it was my Polka dot/spotted navy pencil skirt, Ive never worn it because it was always too long and i never got round to fixing the length, which now I'm glad for my laziness because hey presto its now a peplum skirt.

BEFORE
Not suitable for a petite girl like myself as it was not too far from my ankles.

What i used.

Pencil skirt
Sewing machine and cotton
Scissors
Pins

To Start, there was a slit up the back of the skirt so i used that as a guide of how short i was going to have it.

I just cut straight across from the slit and with the piece i cut off i then cut that in half

And on to hemming, i hemmed the bottom of the skirt and the two sides of each piece i cut off leaving one raw edge on the fabric pieces.

With the raw edge i pinned it right side facing down upwards towards the waist so when stitched and folded down it appears stream line. I also left a gap at the front and around the zip at the back.

With it pinned at the front and back i created small pleats at the front towards the sides.
Once stitched i cut off any excess cotton and fabric. And Finished

 AND AFTER!!!!!
A lovely addition to my wardrobe :)

How To Add Lace Trim To Denim Shorts

Hey guys,

this past week i did my bargain hunting at my local car boot, its a nice walk on a cool Sunday morning(and it was cool). While there i came across some denim short shorts at only 50p so i snatched them up but upon trying them on i felt they were a little too short for me.

So unlike my previous post where i added lace inserts this time i decided to create a little length using lace.

What you'll need

A sewing machine and cotton
Denim shorts
Lace ribbon
Scissors

Step 1

Take your lace ribbon and starting at the crotch seam begin pinning the lace on to the bottom of the shorts, i did this just above the original hem as it would be too difficult to sew through the thick denim hem. Continue all the way around.

Once done cut the lace to size allowing about a half inch overlap.

Step 2.

Once you have pinned both sides, begin to sew starting at your first pin. Once you have gone all the way around sew up the lace join.

Step 3.
Trim of excess cotton and make sure the lace at the join is trimmed to make it appear invisible.

And your DONE!!!!!

Now i just need some hot summer days to enjoy them, but this is England were talking about ;)

Change Up And Outfit Of The Day

 Hey guys

Heres my First OOTD post
I just wanted to make my blazer more casual without any "real" changes to it.
So i rolled up the sleeves and secured then a thin belt to cinch my waist.

Kind of reminds me of single white female, i love the outfits that Bridget fonda's character wears in the film.

DIY - How To Add Lace To Denim Shorts

Hey guys,

Inspired by these....

I found out my old pair of Three quarter cropped trousers/pants and set out to turn them into shorts with lace detail.

What you will need
An old pair of jeans/shorts
Lace
A sewing machine or just a needle and thread will do
Pins
Scissors
Pencil

(Optional)for pockets
Fabric glue
Brush
Card

The Process

First I cut the length

then i folded them with seam facing up

i then used a pencil to mark out an upside down v shape and cut the shape from each side of the shorts allowing about an inch either side of the seam at the hem.

Then using the cut out fabric from the shorts as a guide i cut out a piece of lace from an old net.

I then placed the lace on the inside of the cut out v.

I had the option to have the point in the middle or to one side i chose one side.
I pinned the fabric in place to secure.

and then stitched the lace on the inside of jeans using blue cotton.
